Today was our busiest day yet in Written and Illustrated - so busy, we almost forgot to take pictures!

 

We began our day by learning more about our classmates as several shared their passions during Question the Expert.  Then we invested time in our rough drafts, learned about using amazing adjectives and vivid verbs to create a picture in our readers' minds, and joined TA Maddie in a lesson using watercolor pencils to illustrate some very friendly monsters.

After a fun-filled break, we returned to class to explore Storyjumper, the online platform that we will be using to publish our stories.

CONVERSATION STARTERS:  How can you use vivid verbs and amazing adjectives to energize your writing?  You can practice this skill and exercise your young writer's imagination by challenging him/her with a boring sentence that they can use as the basis of a short story where they try to "show" the action to their reader through their word choice.  Have fun!
